Get the Results You Need with AI: Here's How

Are you getting poor results with AI? Try this:

👉 Provide more detailed information on what you need

Give specific instructions regarding your goals, audience and tone to help the AI provide better responses. For example, adding details like 'please provide your answer in an email with bullet points' can make AI responses more tailored to what you need.

👉 Upload a reference document

On ChatGPT (and NotebookLM), you can upload a document you want AI to use as a reference to provide more background information. This is particularly useful if you need help on a niche topic or if you're using a specific tone of voice (e.g. style guides, past social media posts, etc.).

👉 Ask for specific references

Ask the AI to include specific references and quotes and double-check these references for better results. You can do that by asking for specific links to websites where AI got the answers—Perplexity tends to work better than ChatGPT for this.

👉 Ask follow-up questions

Follow-up questions can help clarify or expand on the first AI responses, guiding the AI toward more detailed and precise answers. This can be a bit more time-consuming but you're more likely to get better answers, especially for more complex topics and requests.

👉 Use meta-prompting

Meta prompting is about asking the AI to create a detailed prompt for what you're trying to achieve. The AI will do the work for you and you'll just need to refine the prompt based on the context and paste it back into your AI tool to get your answers.

I'm curious, how are you getting better results?
